Pushing Digital Boundaries

Refacing Africa

Titled the Women Project, this ambitious project created by French digital artist JR, is changing the face of several African countries. The idea behind the project comes from JR’s desire to highlight the pivotal role of women in their communities. The project is an homage to the struggle and oppression experienced by women in various parts of the world. “The project allows everyone to feel concerned by their condition and connects, through art, the two different worlds” (JR). The project can be seen in Kibera, Kenya, as well as southern Sudan, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

This project pretty much speaks for itself.
