The mortality rate of mothers and children born in Malawi is staggering. The number of women who die in childbirth in Malawi is nearly a hundred times higher than the ration in the United Kingdom and other developed countries. The Safe Motherhood Malawi project was developed for Malawian mothers, educating midwives to train community-based health workers to improve midwifery knowledge and care.
