Curriculum: 1 day, 18 hours ago · ViewI think access to resources would be a major issues. It costs alot to get the right equipment and software. Look at Adobe Creative Suite it is over $1000.

Curriculum: 2 weeks, 2 days ago · ViewThis might be of interest to this group. December 1st is the submission deadline for the Mother Tongue project. It would be great to see some more contributions from Africa. The following link leads you to a description… (scroll down, way down).

Curriculum 2 months ago · ViewThanks for your response. Yes, it is true that we in Africa lack the adequate resources to acquire these skills. One of the things I am working on is to get a definition of what the African Creative Economy is, and in turn what does it mean for the creative process in Africa. To take it further from what you have said, after equipping the individual with the skills and technical know-now, how do you create an environment where unique innovations such as this (at least regionally) can be used as a means of livelihood as well as expression?

Curriculum: 5 months ago · ViewI am interested in finding out if the vast majority of the people in ADA acquired their skills abroad. If so, what are the gaps Africa is facing in terms of offering a competitive course or degree in digital arts? I am currently working on development of curriculum in the Arts and this includes digital [...]
Since Africa is so culturally and educationally diverse, I will limit my comment to West Africa for now. One of the most glaring gaps is that of lack of resources and educational materials. Yes, it may seem that the Internet provides access to everything conceivable; but what do you do when schools lack the basic technology required for learning design?
That said, design is not only about technology. We need to define what African design is, within today’s inter-connected world. Then we can develop curricula to educate for that, both in general (design principles) and specifics (technique and application).
