Hassan Iman, a digital artist from Lagos, Nigeria, is making waves with her striking and emotive illustrations that celebrate the beauty, strength, and resilience of Black women. Her work tells timeless stories, capturing both contemporary and historical depictions of women in their everyday moments—whether it’s a quiet reflection or a scene brimming with energy. With a signature focus on the subject’s gaze, Iman creates an intimate connection between her art and its audience, drawing viewers into the emotions and narratives she weaves.

Iman’s artistic world is drenched in warmth, conveyed through her masterful use of earthy oranges, browns, and rich hues that evoke familiarity and nostalgia. These colors not only provide a visual signature but also enhance the emotional depth of her work, inviting viewers to see themselves or their loved ones in her subjects. At the core of her practice lies a passion for storytelling—an ability to blend personal experiences with cultural heritage, creating art that is both authentic and universally relatable.
A graduate of the esteemed Ife Art School at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Iman has cultivated her artistic practice through traditional and digital mediums. Her skillful fusion of these approaches has allowed her to craft unique visuals that resonate across different audiences. Over the years, her work has been exhibited in Nigeria and beyond, with showcases in the United States and Tanzania further cementing her reputation as a storyteller who bridges cultural contexts while highlighting the universality of Black womanhood.

Beyond her work as an illustrator, Iman is also an active freelance graphic designer, bringing her creative vision to various projects across multiple industries. She has lent her artistic talent to book cover designs, such as the acclaimed When Love Visits by Comfort Omovre, as well as other commercial and independent projects. Her ability to breathe life into visual narratives has made her a sought-after artist in both local and international creative circles.
Iman’s commitment to empowering Black women extends beyond her art. She actively volunteers her skills for nonprofit organizations that uplift women in her community, using her creativity as a force for positive change. Through mentorship and artistic contributions, she ensures that her work not only tells stories but also inspires the next generation of creatives to find their voice.
With every brushstroke and digital composition, Hassan Iman continues to carve out a space for Black women in the global artistic landscape. Her work is more than just visual expression—it is a celebration, a documentation, and an invitation for audiences to recognize the beauty in the everyday lives of Black women. As she continues to expand her artistic journey, her impact only deepens, leaving an indelible mark on all who encounter her work.
